Ace the SAT/ACT Mini Course for teens- Scholarship money is tied directly to a student’s SAT or ACT score. 85% of colleges will admit and give money solely based on a test score. Unfortunately, most students, even smart ones, bomb standardized tests because the questions are purposely misleading, and the wrong answers are tricky and easy to pick. This seminar will teach you how to answer questions in 30 seconds or less and will jump-start your excitement and confidence on how to beat these tests!  Taught by Jean Burk, College Prep Genius  (Value $195) Only 25 seats available for the Teen Test Prep

 Davis Carmen

Raising God-Confident ChildrenDeuteronomy 6 is a classic scripture admonishing parents to teach their children diligently when sitting at home, when walking along the way, when lying down, and when getting up. There are many more places in God’s Word that speak to home education and family discipleship. Whether you are at the crossroads considering home education, a few years into it deciding whether to stay the course, or a veteran in need of affirmation, the truth found in God’s Word will set you free. Davis shares many of these inspired verses in a way that brings God’s wisdom all the way home.

HEART Exam for Homeschool Dads (and Moms)Tests and exams are a typical part of school, even home schools. In this session, Davis helps homeschooling dads take an exam — a spiritual exam of the heart. He uses the word H.E.A.R.T. as an acronym to display truths found in the book of Malachi, which deals with very real heart issues. The topics covered by “Dr. Malachi” include relationships with both God and family. The goal is to discover the practical and faithful steps a father can take in the journey towards turning one’s heart to his children.

Don't Ring the Bell- Homeschooling is not for the faint of heart. It can be scary to start and just as daunting to continue. Statistics show that roughly 20% of parents who start this journey quit after the first year. Then another 20% stop after year two with 10% walking away by year three. The trend levels off by year four with a little less than half of those who started remaining. What separates those who stick with it from those who give up? Is it just a matter of persevering? Davis believes that every child is a homeschool child, but not every parent is a homeschool parent. Are you a homeschool parent? Come and find out. And if you are, Davis will give you five promises that should inspire you to never ever give up and four fundamentals to help you persevere and succeed.

Attention Obsessive Compulsive Perfectionist Control Freaks...CHILL OUT - As an obsessive-compulsive-perfectionist-control-freak herself, Rachael discusses how in many instances she is her own worst enemy when it comes to taking advantage of freedoms of home school. Are you tied to your plan? Do you shiver at the idea of change or adjustment? Are you missing out on significant moments because you are focused on the trivial? It's time to Chill Out and give control of it all to God-He is faithful.

Mary, Martha, You, and Me- So, do you tend to sit at the feet of Jesus or rush around chasing after the items on your To-Do List? Do you get who He is? Do you know He is able? Are you concerned about what other people think more than what He requires? Mary and Martha’s inclusion in the biblical narrative is both raw and refreshing. Two women, sisters, two responses to Jesus on two different occasions. Let’s look again at the two snapshots from the gospels and see what we can learn and apply to our lives.

Want Some Real Refreshment? Come and Get - It Most moms surveyed say that they’re exhausted, overwhelmed and lonely. Even in the best of circumstances life is challenging. The laundry piles up. The floors are sticky. The kids are, well, kids. And then there’s the meal plans and the lesson plans. There are always interruptions and surprises, colds and flus, holidays and vacations. So where can a mom get some real rest, some real refreshment? The world offers only empty promises that cannot satisfy. Jesus offered the woman at the well Living Water. Let’s discuss how to tap into the source that satiates.

The Huge Gap that College Bound Student's Fal lnto (three parts- not necessary to be at all three)

There is an abyss for homeschoolers when it comes to preparing and paying for higher education, thus leaving families at a loss without proper guidance.

Having no “guidance counselor” can cause families to believe they are missing an important component in the college preparation journey. The truth is, that it’s not the job of the school counselor to get students into college but rather to get them out of high school. Without proper training, they often give wrong information about testing or applications that can ultimately cost a student admittance and scholarship money. On the contrary, it’s not the college admission’s counselors’ job to get a student through high school but to admit them to the school.

Herein lies the chasm that most families, from all schools, face when it comes to college preparation. Consequently, numerous college planning companies cropped up over the years to fill in the gap. These businesses specialize in hand-holding students to write an essay, complete an application and fill out the FAFSA and they generally come with a big price tag, often several thousands of dollars.

The good news for SUHC families is that Jean Burk will share with you a step-by-step guide for college-bound students—all for FREE!

 Tj Schmidt

Can Homeschooling Really Prepare Your Child for Life/Career? Tj will encourage parents (and teens) through his personal experiences of how homeschooling can prepare your child for a successful future and life in general. It was homeschooling that brought Tj to live in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, help his father build over eight houses, sail through the Caribbean, work through law school at home and eventually come to work at Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). Tj will also give a couple of examples of other homeschool success stories while providing helpful tips on what you can do to prepare your children for success through homeschooling.

Homeschooling? How to Get Started and Stand Firm. In this workshop Tj will walk you through pulling out from public school or starting your homeschool program at kindergarten. While the focus will be on Utah homeschool law, the discussion may include Arizona and/or Nevada if appropriate. This workshop will also cover how to deal with questions from local school officials, social services, or others. Tj will educate you to be better prepared to handle these situations as well as how to get the help you may need in the future. A few common homeschool scenarios will be discussed. There may be time for questions and answers at the end.
