Equipping Minds Through Games with a Brain Fitness Program for K-12 by Dr. Carol Brown. The brain can change, as the latest research has proven. Cognitive and educational gains have been proven with this evidence-based cognitive training curriculum which everyone can replicate and use. Participants can put these cognitive games and exercises into their homeschool day with K-12 students and watch reading, math, writing, and spelling improve. Equipping Minds is designed to help any individual wanting to strengthen their ability to learn. This includes Autism Spectrum, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Gifted, Learning Challenges, ADD/ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injury, Memory, Comprehension, Down Syndrome, Processing Disorders, Dementia, Executive Functioning, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Communication Disorders, and Neurodevelopment Disorders. 

Equipping Minds to Reach Their Full Potential Through Increasing Working Memory by Dr. Carol Brown. Working memory is a stronger predictor of personal and academic success. This workshop will present the latest scientific research on neuroplasticity, working memory, and the brain’s ability to change for children and adults of all ages and etiologies. You will learn exercises to improve working memory, long term memory retrieval, attention, and the ability to follow multi-step directions. You will leave with a deeper understanding of these challenges and equipped to implement exercises to develop every individual’s capacity to learn in the classroom and workplace. 

The Role of Imagery and Memory in Learning by Dr. Carol Brown Learn how to visualize letters, numbers, and objects to improve reading, math, and comprehension. The ability to visualize letters is necessary for spelling and reading, the ability to visualize numbers is necessary for math, and the ability to visualize pictures and concepts is necessary for reading comprehension and critical thinking. Learn the exercises to connect these pathways.

To Grade or Not to Grade: A Practical Workshop on Grades in Homeschool by Linda Lacour Hobar. Shaped by our personality types, grades have the power to motivate some and the propensity to destroy others! So, how do you decide when to grade or not to grade? Join Linda, The Mystery of History, and a veteran homeschool mom, for varying theories on grade keeping, tips for grading numerous subjects, and practical ideas for managing the grades you choose to keep. With Linda’s “real life” examples from the work of her own children, this session is designed to encourage both new and experienced homeschool teachers.
