I just love this picture. It captures many of the children's personalities!
Playing with Plays is my all time favorite co-op activity!  Our homeschool group spent about six weeks together learning and laughing as we put together these plays. (We did Oliver Twist one year and Jungle Book the next.)
Shakespeare and other famous playwrights can difficult enough in teach in class or watch on stage, let alone try to teach the stories to children, but as the author's mantra states in the book, "There is no better way to learn than to have fun!"
These are short 15 minute plays. Children and teens get to experience performing, acting, learning, (public speaking), etc. while enjoying every minute of it. Even the ones that don't think they would like acting, usually do after performing in one of these plays!
Before we started, I had a general idea of what the story of Oliver Twist was about, but I did not know much more. I did a little research because I knew I would not be able to read the 400-page book first! Most of the summaries and analysis made the book seems dry and boring and I wondered if we had chosen the wrong play. But after the few weeks of fun, we knew all the characters, the plot to the story, the whos, and the whys and we loved the story.
Brendan Kelso, the editor of these plays, does an amazing job of putting just enough of the plot and storyline in each play so those watching and performing can enjoy and loosely understand these plays.
My hope is that you, your children and your co-op will enjoy these plays as much as we have.

Enjoying the journey,
