Children are a blessing!

If asked if this statement is true, most parents would say "YES!" 

We say this, but if we looked at our days and what we spend time on and what we give our undivided attention to, sadly it would reflect that many other things are more important to us.

I ask you to look at how you spend your time. 

How much time do you spend on social media?

How often do your children look at you and see your face staring down at your phone?

The old saying, "Actions speak louder than words." is true.

Let's put the phone down more often, a lot more often (like maybe now) and enjoy life with our kids while they are still young.

Our babies grow so fast.

Life is so short.

We never know how much time we will have with our loved ones.

Spend TIME with them.

Give them your undivided attention.

Show them by your actions and your words how much they mean to you and how thankful you are that they are part of your life.

18 years = 157,680 hours 

That's what most parents will have with their children. 

What are children learning during those 18 years?

Years 1-2

They are developing important fine motor skills and gross motor skills as well as starting to learn social skills through play and look to you for help in developing control over their emotions particularly as they become tired or frustrated. 

Their cognitive and language development will grow quickly as they learn more and more of the world around them and your expectations.

Years 3-7 

During this time they will begin to test their boundaries. Your unconditional love for them will help them rest in the security you provided them. 

Ages 7-14

Impression years. What they learn during this time will set the foundation for who they are. And we wonder why so many children are lost without God? They need a belief. They need a caring parent to help educate them, not the school system. They have a thirst to know their Creator. 

From 14-18 

They practice who they want to be. During this time they become comfortable in their skin and confident in who they are becoming. Helping to guide these young adults in the way of The Lord is crucial. They will fight some of their first battles against satan. They need to be properly equipped.

 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
