Homeschool writing—overcome the obstacles and accomplish your shoulds.

We've heard all the obstacles. And we know they are real! 

  • I'm a math and science person. Writing doesn't come easily to me. So we skip it.
  • My kids hate writing. It's like pulling teeth! I avoid the battle altogether.
  • I have no idea how to grade my children's writing. So I don't.
  • We do a little creative writing and report writing here and there. I know it's not enough, but I don't really know how to teach writing in a comprehensive way.
  • I have great plans, but they never seem to come to fruition. I'm not good at spontaneously adding writing to our other lessons like history and science.

We've heard all of your guilt-filled shoulds:

  • I know I should teach more writing. My kids are now in middle school, and they still can't write a decent essay!
  • We should spend more time on writing. I just don't know where to start. I get overwhelmed.

WriteShop is not only an excellent writing program, it is also excellent is helping the parent/teacher know what and how to teach and how to correct writing assignments! You can teach your child to write and the process does not need to be daunting! 

Although I enjoyed writing classes when I was in school (years and years ago), the idea of teaching our children a writing program was extremely intimidating and overwhelming. An experienced homeschooling friend (who was teaching her teens at the time) recommended I try WriteShop.

Playing with Plays: Shakespeare Like You've Never Seen It Before!

Playing with Plays is one of the best ideas I have seen for introducing children and youth to Shakespeare and other well known playwrights. Most students are not interested in learning about Shakspeare, let alone reading one of his plays! This will change if you take part in Playing with Plays! 

These melodramatic plays are 15- 20 minutes long and each book includes scripts for three group sizes for 8-22+ actors. Although these are very short interpretations of the actual plays, there are actual lines......
